For Visitors

We know that it is difficult to visit an unfamiliar church, especially for the first time.  This page will describe for you what a first visit might be like so that you will feel more comfortable joining us.

When you arrive at Jasper First Presbyterian, you will be greeted by an usher or greeter outside the sanctuary in brick building to the left, who will give you a bulletin and welcome you to the church.  The bulletin sets out in simple form the order of the worship service, including the hymns and scripture passages that are included that week.  Please feel free to sit in any pew and allow those who are already there to introduce themselves and find out your name!  After the service, our pastor will be at the door to meet you.

Children.  Children are always welcome in worship, and they will be invited to come forward for a children's message just before the sermon if they would like to participate. We love a sanctuary full of life and activity!

What to Wear.  Some men wear jackets and women may wear "Sunday dresses" to our services, but many members and visitors dress quite casually.  Wear what is comfortable — all are welcome!

Communion.  We celebrate the Lord's Supper several times a year.

The Collection Plate.  Visitors are welcome but not obligated or expected to contribute.  Our collections are offerings back to God of a portion of the resources with which we have been blessed and are used for needs in the church, the community, and the world.

Becoming a Member.  Our pastor can answer your questions about how to become a member of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. Generally, the three ways to join are: (1) Profession of Faith (2) Reaffirmation of Faith and (3) Transfer of Letter of Membership.

Feedback. If you have questions or feedback after your visit, please contact the pastor by email or telephone. You can find our contact info here.
